BY CAR FROM SAN JOSE
The drive takes about one hour along the new highway "Del Sol" or two hours on the original Pan-American road. Once in Puntarenas, go to the ferry terminal which is located at the very northwest end of the town. This is where the ferrys "Naviera Tambor II y Tambor III" depart and arrive, going back and forth between Puntarenas and Paquera. Once in Paquera, drive for one more hour, passing through Tambor beach and Cobano. The entire way to Cobano is paved; the road from Cobano to Montezuma is not.

BY CAR FROM LIBERIA
Take Route 21 south to Santa Cruz, Jicaral and Playa Naranjo where the road changes to unpaved and goes "over the mountains" for about 25 km. At Paquera, you will intersect with (paved) Route 160 when the unpaved road dead ends. Turn right for Cobano and Montezuma. No rivers to cross. You might buy a cooler and take some snacks and drinks. On the unpaved part of the road, there are several places where you can stop and get a great view of the Golfo de Nicoya and are good for taking a break and having something to eat and drink.
Once in Cobano you turn left and Montezuma is 7Km away.

BY PLANE
Its the fastest way to get to Montezuma, flying to Tambor airport over Golfo de Nicoya and Islands. The view is increidible and the trip very enjoyiable. The local airlines are Sansa (located beside the International Airport Juan Santa Maria) or Nature Air (located in Pavas, 20 minutes from the internationl airport). The flight tcosts about US$ 100. From Tambor, the drive to Montezuma takes about half hour.

BY BUS
The direct bus leaves 6 am and 2 pm from Terminal de Buses 7 11 in San Jose downtown. The bus goes directly onto the ferry in Puntarenas (so you don't have to move your luggage) and stops in Cobano, Montezuma, Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. From Montezuma leaves at 6.30am and 2.30pm.

BY PRIVATE TRANSFER
There are shuttle services to Montezuma from very destinations in the country. They offer a private, door to door, shuttle service at about $55 per person and private busetas at around $300.
It is also possible to hire private transportation by taxi directly from the international Airport to the ferry dock in Puntarenas for about US$ 120. Take the ferry and catch another taxi in Paquera to Montezuma at about $60.

BY BOAT FROM JACO
The water taxi is the fastest way to get To Montezuma from Jaco, crossing the Gulf of Nicoya, save time and enjoy traveling this picturesque ride.
